Hey, I'm a 1 year old and through this blog I wish to let you into my world. Just so that you understand and appreciate that being a toddler is not all that fun and run, making others around sweat it out for you.
Just the other day, I was learning to walk using my push toy (oh these things, they dont move when you want them to and when you just want to stand up holding onto them, zoooom they go).
I was walking or rather pusing this truck by the pool, my mom behind me (it was her choice). There were some other kids too and of course many grown ups. The kids, some my size, some smaller and some bigger were slogging it out in the sun. The little one, oh poor things, were tied down in their strollers, with little freedom to look around. Those my size were struggling to be free from the clutches of the grownups. One was crawling away from his mom, the other running towards the pool, just managing to stay out of reach of his dad. And I was sweating pushing the truck. Firstly I still cannot walk on my own and then you ask me to push this dumb thing. How rude! The bigger kids, who could walk and run on their own, were tied down to floats and made to struggle swimming. Why are we made to do things that we can't do yet? Why arent we left alone to do the things we can and we want to, like the grownups.
Guess what the grownups did while the little people struggled. They were lying on beds, relaxing on chairs with their books and sipping juice, and of course enjoying the sight of us slogging.
Believe me, I've never seen in last 12 months a single kid running behind her mom or dad, asking them not to run around the pool or into the bushes. I've not seen a single grownup tied to a stroller or his chair for that matter. I've not seen a single kid stop a grownup just before you put something in your mouth (like sand, or a leaf).
I hope you now know we, the little people, live in an unfair world, that on someone else's terms and whims.
I better go if my dad sees me near his laptop, he would find some grill or net or some other restricting device (they call it babyproofing) to keep me away from this freedom too.
